I absolutely LOVE reading the books on the 2x2 list each year and I think you will too! All you need to do to participate in the program is read or listen to all 20 books on the Current 2x2 Reading list. Keep track of your reading by coloring the title of each book on the 2x2 Reading Log (see below.) After reading all 20 titles, return your completed sheet to the library by May 1, 2018 to have your photo added to the wall of fame and earn a special spirit stick!
You'll find a reading activity and idea label on the inside cover of each book. Multiple copies of 2x2s are available for checkout at school and at the San Antonio Public Library.

The 2x2 Reading List is sponsored by the Texas Library Association and is created to encourage reading for children from age two to grade two. Each year a committee of Texas librarians recommends 20 new titles. Click here to view 2x2 titles from previous years. Reading Tips by Age: Ages 2-3
- Designate a special reading area with books for sharing.
- Choose books with repetitive phrases.
- Point to different pictures and identify what you see.
- Encourage your child to "point and say" objects in the pictures.
- Let your child see you reading.
- Encourage your child to select a favorite book to read.
- Ask your child questions about the story.
- Recite or sing nursery rhymes from favorite rhyme collections.
- Keep a good selection of books in your home.
- Let your child read to you and with you.
- Talk about the story and how the pictures are part of the story.
- Stay aware of what your child likes to read.
